Coming Event
1. We will have a guest speaker at our next meeting, 9 Sep at the Regency at 1600.
Our USMC recruiter will give a 10 minute presentation about Marine Corp recruiting in our area and the benefits of enlisting, ie. GI Bill, bonuses, college fund, etc.. He is a good recruiter and has enlisted many of our high school students.
2. On 11 Sep there will be a 911 ceremony at PTA at 0900. If you plan on attending email or call the fire chief at PTA with the name that appears on your driver's license or email brinklaw@aol.com, ( Marcy Brinkley).
3. On 17 Sep there will be a community open house at PTA. They will have military aircraft and vehicles on display and representatives from different organizations. I have not received the full info yet but I attended it last year with my grandson and they put on a good show. It is usually 1000-1600.
4. Hilo Hawaii Island Veterans Parade is 7 Nov, Saturday at 1000 in downtown Hilo.
5. Our Post is incharge of Veterans Day at the Veterans cemetery this year, 11-11-11-2026.
5. ********MILITARY VETERANS AND FIRST RESPONDERS APPRECIATION NIGHT******
I am running a military appreciation night at the Kona Elks Lodge on 11 September 1700-1900,
75-170 Hualalai across from the Regency. We will have a few games, military movies, free dinner (senior chief is making his beef stew), and a real MRE for each veteran. There will be a short 911 ceremony, color guard by Kealakehe JROTC and missing chair ceremony. This is open to all veterans and first responders, guests must pay a small amount for dinner. Please wear your old uniform or parts of it or American Legion shirt. There should be a lot of good war stories that night!!
